Intensive Therapy & EMDR
Exclusively Online Therapy & Telehealth throughout Arizona, Florida, Indiana, and Massachusetts
I provide intensive therapy services with EMDR to allow people to get further along in therapy in a short amount of time.
Therapy can take a long time. In a perfect world with no stressors it can go anywhere from months to years. However with everything that the universe throws at a person the time range of therapy can increase exponentially. To avoid this some people will opt to do intensive therapy sessions including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) that last six to eight hours for one to two days.
Participating in intensive therapy can allow you to:
Have breakthroughs and complete therapy sooner
Reduce the time and financial commitment of therapy
Complete processing trauma and avoid dropping out due to life circumstances
Get Out Of Therapy ASAP With Results
Therapy takes time, effort, and financial commitment.
I once met with a person who was dealing with a recent breakup and wanted support processing the breakup and thought EMDR would be a good fit. They planned on meeting with me once a week for an hour each week. I informed them that I thought it would probably take a year to process all that they brought up in the intake. The timeframe I give isn’t always accurate but in this case I was pretty certain. Around the one year mark we were getting ready for them to graduate from therapy and they informed me that in the beginning stages of therapy they had thought I was full of shit and that they would be done in 3-6 months. However, at the end of therapy, they recognized that they had no idea where they could get and how happy they were with who they became through the process.
When they met with me I knew where they could potentially get but also knew that when therapy starts the universe fights people by throwing new problems and crises. These issues always slow down therapy. Not only that but it’s hard to get your mind into therapy and a 55-minute session that the insurance is willing to pay for is difficult to get people in and out of EMDR reprocessing. Best practice, according to research, is at least an 85-minute session because it allows your brain to really focus and get further through your memory network. Even longer, with clinical support, can help people get even farther in processing.
While the outcome of this client was positive they ended up spending about 50 hours in therapy with me and about $11,250. That’s a lot of money and time. Why not cut it down and pay more up front but allow yourself to have a smaller time and money commitments?

Intensive Therapy With Me Will Look Like:
Assessment
Prior to the intensive therapy session we will complete a 90 minute assessment online for $350. At this time we will review what you’re wanting from therapy, discuss paperwork you submitted prior to session, as well as obtain targets for EMDR intensive session.
Intense Therapy & EMDR
Intense therapy session(s) will consist of meeting 3-6 hours a day. During this time we will review coping skills that you have, map out an EMDR treatment plan, and then start reprocessing. EMDR reprocessing will utilize bilateral eye movements and/or bilateral audio stimulation. Your brain will move through many different memories, thoughts, physical responses, and/or emotions.
Afterwards
After intense therapy you will most likely be exhausted. Most time people get a good EMDR session in they feel that they have done a HIIT workout. Please prioritize self-care for after our sessions.
In addition to feeling exhausted your brain may continue to reprocess so you may have things come up consciously or subconsciously as it continues along this journey of healing.
Common Questions About Intensive Therapy & EMDR
What is Intensive Therapy?
Intensive therapy (also called Therapy Intensive) is an accelerated therapy designed to get results fast. Instead of meeting weekly for 50 minutes instead why not dedicate a day or two to focus on yourself? Intensive therapy is a newer approach to therapy allowing people to feel better and see results now. There is no need to continue seeing me weekly and having to shift your life for a year or two to make room for therapy at a slower pace.
Intensive therapy can utilize many types of therapy but meeting with me would mean that we are focusing on utilizing EMDR. You can choose between a 3 hour session or 1-3 day session(s) consisting of two 3 hour sessions per day. Also you can do this from the comfort of your own home. Or if your home is too noisy you could aways go to a hotel and make it a little bit of a getaway for yourself.
Who is Intensive Therapy for?
Well if you are wanting to get results fast and not waste time before seeing results then this may be the the type of therapy for you. If you have a specific topic, trauma, or stressor that you are wanting to work on any of these may be the focus of your therapy session(s). The time during the intensive is yours so we can focus on whatever you are wanting to focus on.
Why should I do Intensive Therapy instead of a normal 50 minute therapy session?
Intensive Therapy can be more effective and efficient than a regular session due to allowing you more time to go deeper into your issue.
A typical 50 minute session starts with a 5-10 minute check in and ends with a 5-10 minute closing/wrap up. That only leave 30-40 minutes for you to be able to delve deep into your therapeutic work. This also doesn’t include the stressors or crises that may arise throughout therapy that occasionally will distract from what you’re working on in therapy.
Instead in a 3 hour intensive you would still have the opening and closing but then another 2.5 hours to be able to get deep into your work. Which equals at least five 50 minute sessions. What a deal!
When do you offer intensive therapy?
I offer intensive therapy on weekdays during normal business hours as well as weekdays in the evening and weekends for a slightly higher price. Please note that all of these are based on availability. I will work with you on setting up the best time to meet for our schedules.
How many intensives should I schedule?
Well that depends upon what you’re needing. Luckily during the 15 minute free consultation I can speak with you about what you’re wanting. We can then come up with an appropriate amount of time for you. Some goals may be able to be accomplished with one day while others may need three, it’s all up to you individually.
What if I need more therapy?
If you need more therapy that is completely ok. We can either schedule another intensive therapy session or I can schedule you into an hourly slot depending upon what you want or need.
Does insurance cover intensive therapy and EMDR?
Unfortunately at this time most insurance does not cover intensive therapy or EMDR. You can check with your own insurance to see if they will cover a portion of it.

What if I already have a therapist I like?
Great! Keep them! I can work with them and you to be able to address things that may not be their specialty or areas that they would like to have more time with but at the moment don’t. To do this we would need you to sign a Release of Confidential Information so that your other therapist and I can discuss what would be most effective for you.
When are payments due?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time you book your Intensive Therapy session(s). The remaining 50% is due on the first day of the session prior to beginning.
Ehhh I'm not too sure this is for me. How would I know?
Well then, let’s talk! Remember I offer free 15 minute consultations so we can discuss if Intensive Therapy would be good for you.
Remember you can also change your plan at any time. Want to switch from weekly to an intensive? Ok let’s get it scheduled! Worried that the Intensive won’t be enough? Ok we can schedule either another Intensive, weekly, or bi-weekly sessions.
